Groove

Invite-only alpha · runs in your browser

Finish the tracks you start.

Groove is a music studio in your browser with an AI producer beside you. It works inside your project, suggests real changes and explains why they work. You keep, tweak or undo every one, and learn the skills for your next track.

We're letting producers in in small batches. Nothing to install.

Who it's for

For producers with a folder full of loops.

You can make a beat. Turning it into a finished track is where it stalls, and the usual help doesn't help.

  • Tutorials are about someone else's track.

They teach a technique on a project that isn't yours, and you stop making music to watch them.

  • Pro DAWs show everything at once.

Every control is on screen before you know which three matter, and the timeline after your loop is blank.

  • Generators hand you a song you didn't make.

You get a result, but not the authorship, the control, or anything you learned for the next one.

Coming in October

An AI producer, beside you.

Not a song generator. It works inside your project, with the same tracks, clips and controls you use.

  1. Ask what to do next.

Stuck after eight bars? Ask, and it suggests a concrete next step for the song you have, not a generic one.

  2. Hear it before you keep it.

Every suggestion is a real change to your project. Preview it in place, then apply it, tweak it or undo it in one step.

  3. Learn why it works.

Each change comes with the technique behind it and points at the controls it touched, so next time you can do it yourself.

What's inside

In the studio today.

Everything here works in the alpha now. The pictures are the app.

The arrangement: drums, bass, chords and a loop laid out across Intro, Verse, Drop and Outro sections.

Arrange

From loop to song.

Lay clips out on a timeline, name the sections (intro, verse, drop) and build a song up to ten minutes long. Loop, copy and trim clips the way you would in any DAW.

A synth's faceplate: its waveform, a filter curve and an amp envelope drawn above labelled faders.

Play

Instruments that teach you what they do.

A sampler, a drum machine and a synth, with controls in plain words: Cutoff, Resonance and Attack, not LP, Q and A. Envelopes and filters draw their shape, and redraw as you move them.

The mixer during playback: a strip per track with level meters, a reverb return and the master.

Shape

Shape the sound, then the mix.

EQ, compressor, filter, delay, reverb, overdrive and saturator, chained on any track. A mixer with level meters, sends and a return. Every move can be undone.

The library open on loops near the song's tempo of 120 BPM.

Finish

Finish it, and take it anywhere.

Sound packs you browse by feel, with loops matched to your song's tempo. Export a stereo WAV to share, or DAW-ready stems to mix anywhere else.

Where it fits

Deeper than a beat app. Simpler than a pro DAW.

  • Beat apps

Quick to a loop, then stuck there. Little help turning eight bars into a song.

  • Groove

Real tracks, clips, devices and mixing, a step at a time, with an AI producer to suggest what's next (from October).

  • Pro DAWs

Everything you will ever need, all on screen at once, and nobody to tell you where to start.

Tracks, clips, effects and stems work the way they do in Ableton Live and Logic Pro, so what you learn here carries over.

How it works

Three steps from loop to track.

  1. Bring a loop.

Start a project and make a beat on the step sequencer, or pick a loop from the library.

  2. Build it into a song.

Lay out sections, add parts and shape the sound, with the AI producer suggesting what's next (from October).

  3. Finish and share.

Export a stereo WAV to share, or stems to take into another DAW.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Do I need to install anything?
No. Groove runs in your browser on a desktop or laptop. We test every release in Chrome, Edge and Firefox; Safari should work, but it is not covered by those tests yet. Your projects save as you work.
Does the AI make the music for me?
No. The AI producer, arriving in October, works inside your project: it suggests a change, you hear it before you keep it, and it explains why it works. You keep, tweak or undo every change, so the track stays yours.
Can I take my track into another DAW?
Yes. Export a stereo WAV of the whole song, or DAW-ready stems: one WAV per track, lined up at bar 1, ready to mix in Ableton Live, Logic Pro or any other DAW.
Who is it for?
Producers who can make a loop but rarely finish a track. If you have used a sampler, a groovebox, a beat app or an entry-level DAW, and want to learn arrangement, sound design and mixing by doing them on your own music, it is for you.
How do I get in?
Request an invite. Groove is an invite-only alpha, and we're letting producers in in small batches. Once you're invited, sign in with that Google account.
Does it work on my phone?
Not for making music yet. The studio is built for a desktop or laptop screen and a keyboard. You can request an invite from your phone and open Groove on your computer once you're in.
